  • Abstract
In order to develop a robust object-oriented ATM network operation system (OpS) on the basis of the TMN concept, it is important to specify the management information model considering future services and their implementation. However, it is still unclear how to manage PVC (permanent virtual connection), FRM (fast resource management) and SVC (switched virtual connection) services from the viewpoint of the functional distribution between OpS and NE (network element). This paper first describes the ATM OpS architecture. After clarifying the requirements to realize ATM services from the viewpoint of network utilization, we compare implementation alternatives and propose an ATM NE architecture. Finally, specifications of the managed objects are introduced
