The teaching of comprehensive experiment is a new attempt for training student´s skills of science and engineering operation. Comprehensive experiment of ethylbenzene dehydrogenation to styrene in fixed bed reactor is involved in chemical reaction engineering and three transfer processes: momentum, heat and mass transfer. It is an epitome of chemical engineering. The paper will concern the design and content of the comprehensive experiment, formation history, and the achievement from this practice. By several improvements and integrating the three experiments of the catalyst preparation, catalytic performance evaluation, and gas chromatography analysis, the present comprehensive experiment has formed. To sum up, the cultivation pattern sets preliminary scientific and researching ability, engineering concept and skills of operation as a goal of cultivation. It displays the achievements in the teaching of comprehensive experiment. Experience over the past few years has proved that comprehensive experiment teaching has played positive roles in promoting their practical abilities and rich their engineering knowledge.
