Abstract :
This paper presents the design and analysis of an autotransformer based 24-pulse rectifier. The proposed ac-dc converter is based on a star connected autotransformer, designed for producing 15-phase shifted ac voltages for 24-pulse rectifier for effective harmonic reduction. Compared with 3-phase rectifier, the proposed 24-pulse rectifier can reduce the equivalent capacity of transformers and realize the purpose of reducing the transformers´ bulk and weight in same power. Meanwhile the proposed method can greatly minish the total harmonic distortion (THD) of supply current and make it near sinusoidal in shape.
