Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Channel equalization is one of the most challenging tasks in terrestrial digital TV and digital audio broadcasting. These broadcast channels are often subject to frequency selective, time varying fading and severe bandwidth limitations. Furthermore, each receiver has vastly different type of channel characteristics and signal-to-noise (and interference) ratios. Here the authors consider channel equalization and estimation problems from both transmitter and receiver perspective. Specifically, they examine various blind and semiblind equalization schemes, some of which are being implemented in chip sets for the next generation HDTV broadcasting
