Abstract :
In this paper we introduce a new method of determining the multi-pulse excitation used in multipulse LPC introduced by Atal and Remde [1]. The new method finds that multi-pulse excitation sequence whose short time Fourier spectrum is the closest to the spectrum of the residual from LPC analysis. A Linear Programming method is used to determine the optimal pulse locations and pulse amplitudes. In this preliminary study, experimental results have shown that this Linear Programming technique provides an excitation sequence with a better short time Fourier spectrum and is more robust to environment noise than previous techniques.
