Abstract :
Tolerance design affects not only the product performance, but also the cost of a product and the manufacturing process. In this paper, a fuzzy multi-criteria evaluation model is developed to study the manufacturability evaluation in concurrent tolerance design. This model is formulated and analyzed based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The manufacturability of parts can be evaluated at the design stage with consideration of the manufacturing constraints imposed. The results of the study point out the importance of early decision making capability.
