Abstract :
In this paper a new shot change detection method using near shortest transversal path is proposed. First all the frames in the video are represented by points in the color histogram space, and then the similarity distances between every two points are computed, and all the points are aligned according to the near shortest transversal path. In this path the time space between nearby points could be used to detect shot change. This method does not need careful selection of threshold and performs well in the special effect shot change. In theory this algorithm is computable and the computational complexity could be further reduced by frame sampling method
