  • Abstract
In this paper a modified phase vocoder is presented to detect sinusoidal components of musical signals. It regards the STFT as a uniform filterbank by which the sinusoidal components are separated from each other, and their instantaneous frequencies are estimated with the phase change rate of the STFT channels´ outputs. However, a uniform filter bank is difficult to track the high-order harmonics at the same time it detaches the dense low-order harmonics. So a multi-sampling rates and nonuniform filterbank is proposed. The experiment results show that this method has good performance in tracking instantaneous frequencies, so it can be used as the front-end of the melody line extraction system.
