Abstract
The contributions of this paper are twofold: first, a reverse engineering (RE) project is described while other educational projects based on existing systems have mainly focused on maintenance. Second, by means of an RE project, it became possible to approach real-world conditions more closely than in other types of educational software engineering (SE) projects
