Abstract
This paper investigates the impact of DG placements on voltage profile of unbalanced distribution networks. Detail simulations and analysis are presented to show the impacts of voltage regulators and DGs on voltage profile, power losses and voltage stability margin. Simulations are carried out using the DIgSILENT PowerFactory to determine the best location for the placement of a DG unit. The results are compared with PV curves based on positive sequence voltage in order to meet the requirements of improving voltage profile, reducing power losses and increasing voltage stability margin under unbalanced loading and/or network condition.
