Abstract
Convex programming methods are used for discretizing continuous-time controllers in a closed loop setting. The result of this work is a numerically fast and efficient means of controller discretization. A variety of cost criteria may be used, reflecting the discrepancy between the closed loop performance of the analog system and that of the sampled-data system. The computer aided design methods used allow substantial flexibility in the selection of a cost criterion. Furthermore, the proposed method allows a variety of constraints to be incorporated into the design
