Abstract :
The research and exploration of erbium-doped superfluorescent fiber source (EDSFS) has always been an important issue, the single stage and two-stage EDSFS have been proposed, but there are no more detailed comparative analysis and simulations for the two structure of EDSFS. In the paper, the single-stage and two-stage EDSFS were detailed simulated by the commercial EDF fiber simulation software. The relationships of the parameters (total pump power, Er-doped fiber length, output ASE, mean wavelength, spectral width) were obtained. The mean wavelength was flattened against the total pump power through the simulation. Finally the conclusion was come out that optimizing the fiber length ratio and selecting pump power ratio can achieve a SFS with greater spectral width, higher output power and high stability.
