Abstract :
This paper outlines the framework of a hardware and software system using RFID technology, and a general procedure for secure electronic voting in a poll and precinct setting. The e-ballot can be used for recount compared to "ballot" on direct recording equipment (DRE) and optical scan. Voter verification, quick recounts, public bulletin boards, and security issues are discussed, along with an attempt at hardware and software design for secure remote home computer voting. A RFID approach to voting has theoretical advantages over current systems, like a paper ballot, it separates data (ballot) from the programming architecture (voting software/hardware), thus making the voting system verifiable.
