Abstract
The paper gives a number of considerations on UMTS interfaces to be standardised. Standardised interfaces are a prerequisite in order to fulfil the UMTS operational requirements. Specific requirements result from the fact that UMTS will be a multi-operator system. The target scenario as adopted by the RACE 2066 MONET Project is to model the UMTS network as an integrated part of networks for fixed telecommunication services. Such a scenario puts additional constraints on the identified interfaces. RACE is an abbreviation of Research and development in Advanced Communication technologies for Europe. RACE projects are partially funded by the Commission of the European Union
