  • Abstract
    Mission Modeling has become popular due to the need to verify proposed system solutions against valid models early in the solutions development lifecycle phase. With the advancement of computing power and the rise in model fidelity, it is no longer difficult to evaluate proposed solutions (e.g. architectures) against system requirements. However, the mission analysis phase, which contains mission modeling, is often uni-directional and uncoupled from the system analysis phase; thus, creating disconnect and risk fulfilling customers´ requirements. Front End Mission Modeling (FEMM) provides an approach that establishes continuity between system lifecycle phases if it is implemented over the entire lifecycle. This is done by integrating the tools used during each lifecycle phase, analysis the artifacts generated, and provide a feedback between the mission being modeled and the simulation results. An FEMM approach is demonstrated utilizing IBM DOORS, IBM Rhapsody Designer for System Engineers, OPNET Modeler, and DISA JCSS tools.
