Abstract
China is the origin country of tea. It is necessary to provide a more adequate information management tool for Chinese tea industry. We propose a GIS-based public information service platform of Chinese tea industry for supporting production, business trade and government management, which includes three components: (1) a GIS portal of planning and decision-making management for government and industry departments; (2) a production information service platform for gathering related information of tea and giving production guidance for farmers; and (3) a business-oriented international e-commerce GIS platform for tea enterprises. The paper first gives a summary of the basic system construction technology and then focuses on the design and implementation of the information service platform with the emphasis on the used component and GIS technology. The GIS-based public information service platform offers entirely new ways of macro-control in tea production and business activities and gives additional visualization and analysis capability.
