Abstract :
Sampled fiber bragg grating (SFBG) is a cascade of FBGs with partial reflectivity. By properly choosing the reflection profile of individual FBGs and the phase shifts between adjacent FBGs, a SFBG works as an optical transversal filter, which is able to process high speed optical signals in real time. In this paper, the design and fabrication issues of the SFBG based optical transversal filters and their applications related to fiber-optic and radio communications are introduced.
