  • Abstract
The purpose of this project is to develop a system to assess a below-the-elbow amputee´s ability to use a myoelectric prosthesis and train him to better use the prosthesis. Many amputees are unable to use a myoelectric prosthesis due to poor muscle control. This system is designed for clinicians to assess an amputee´s ability to use a prosthesis. To assess an amputee, a metric indicating the degree of muscle co-contraction will be developed. Another purpose of this system is to train the amputee to use a prosthesis or a higher functioning prosthesis. To train an amputee, muscle activity will be used to control a video game in a similar way that muscle activity is used to control a prosthesis.
