Abstract :
Social networking was one of the biggest buzz words of the 2000´s. As a new decade begins, many groups, the Kentucky Nanonet (KyNN) among them, are beginning the much more sober task of using the tools that these systems have developed for bringing together smaller, more focused groups such as the micro/nano research community within Kentucky. The KyNN´s efforts have begun the process of building a functional, integrated web community using custom developed tools and leveraging existing web services such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn where possible to connect and encourage communication among geographically dispersed location.
