Abstract :
In order to reduce the force needed to propel a manual wheelchair up a slope, the following product was designed. The most important component is the ratchet system which allows the user to drive the wheelchair forward without any counter-movement from when the levers are pulled back to the original starting position. Furthermore unlike any product on the market the design is universal to all wheelchairs. Unlike most products which require specifically designed new wheels or wheelchairs, this design attaches to all types, brands, and sizes of wheelchairs with virtually no effort.
