Abstract
Results on the received signal power scattering from selected rural areas of Tanzania are presented and discussed. A general model for average path loss is derived and used to describe path loss in different terrain and environmental areas. The path loss law is on average 4.4 giving a fourth order exponential decaying power with distance. Path loss, which describes the attenuation of signal strength with distance, is useful for radio link transmission planning. It is also useful in setting up receiver sensitivity parameters design and dynamic range which illustrates the usefulness of the results presented
