Abstract
This paper proposed an architecture of the broadband mobile wireless TDMA MAC (BMW T-MAC) protocol, designed and implemented by Advanced Technology Center of Computer Communication Research Laboratories (ATC/CCL). It is modified from the GPRS standard and aimed to support the voice services and IP application simultaneously. Due to the combination of the GSM and the Internet technology, this architecture can be easily extended as a micro-cell base station for GPRS and providing services within a local area. The proposed architecture used packet-switched technology and a TDMA multiple access scheme for supporting future high-speed, multimedia services being defined by universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS) or IMT-2000. A reference testbed is being developed to validate the effectiveness and the efficiency of the proposed BMW T-MAC
