Abstract
Thermoelectric (TE) technology currently serves several niche markets, but there is increasing interest in thermoelectric devices for emerging markets. One of the factors limiting the broader application of thermoelectric technology is the unfamiliarity of engineers with thermoelectric physics, device design, and system considerations. To address this need, we are developing a TE tutorial aimed (first) at undergraduate electrical engineering students. Thermoelectricity involves physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. Preparing students and working engineers to contribute to the development and application of TE technology is a challenges that we are addressing by developing an online tutorial complemented by simulations to reinforce concepts.
