  • Abstract
A typical convective and stratiform mixed cloud system happened in GuiZhou province on May 29th in 2005 is studied in detail with observation data and simulation results. The results show that WRF model can simulate the process well. The formation mechanism of the clouds system is studied. The following conclusions are reached. The formation process of mixed cloud system goes through three stages: convective cells merging into a convective cloud; convective clouds merging into a convective cloud cluster; cloud clusters merging into a cloud system. The characters of the precipitation are widespread, uneven with several strong centers embedded in it. Precipitation happened in all three stages, but the precipitation will turn stronger while merging happens.
