Abstract :
UVLS (Under Voltage Load Shedding) with Cascade Method and Sensor to Protect Generator from Over Excitation is the modification of UVR (Under Voltage Relay) by using generator sensor to execute Load Shedding in Real Time Condition through Power Line Carrier (PLC) with Cascade Method. Load Shedding starts from low load condition until high load condition in order to reach balance between supply of Reactive Power from Generation and demand of Reactive Power in the system. The UVLS has been implemented in Pekanbaru Subsystem since 2008. Goal of the UVLS is to prevent Over Excitation of Koto Panjang Hydro Power Plant (PLTA Koto Panjang) because it must compensate low voltage and keep the Pekanbaru Subsystem at once. Another benefit of this UVLS is to maintain deviation between Reactive Power Consumption and total Supply of Reactive Power to be balance. UVLS with Cascade Method and Sensor need to be implemented if the Subsystem has dependence on dominant Generation, Radial Transmission Network, and constraints of reactive power supply. According to these facts, UVLS with Cascade Method and Sensor is the best solution to solve the problem. It is suitable to be implemented in Pekanbaru Subsystem.
