Abstract :
For TS-U (Tore Supra Upgrade), high power long duration discharges are foreseen. The corresponding power exhaust will be achieved by means of actively cooled first wall components and primarily by the TPL (toroidal pumped limiter) which will consist of CuCrZr (copper-chromium-zirconium) elements, protected by C/C flat tiles and cooled by pressurized water. Subscale elements were manufactured and tested non-destructively as well as under high heat fluxes in the EB (electron beam) facility FE200 in Le Creusot (F) with up to 1000 cycles of 15 MW/m2 heat flux. The elements sustained these loads without deterioration of the C/C surface temperature or any other visible damage
