Abstract
A Sierpinski Carpet Pre-Fractal planar monopole antenna with coplanar waveguide feed is optimized to obtain wide impedance bandwidth of 73% that extends from 4.9 GHz to 10.5GHz. Real Coded Genetic Algorithm involving Wrightpsilas heuristic crossover in conjunction with non-uniform mutation aids the optimization process. The effectiveness of the operators used in implementing the algorithm is discussed and outputs of five different runs are summarized. The radiation pattern and gain of around 4.25 dBi suggests that it can be used for wireless communication applications.
