Abstract :
A novel formulation of emission from a line source covered by an electromagnetic crystal embedded in a magnetized ferrite slab with a perfectly conductive reflection-plate is described. The method employs the spectral domain approach. The spectral response of electromagnetic crystal embedded in a magnetized ferrite slab is calculated using the lattice sums, the T-matrix of a circular cylinder in magnetized ferrite medium, and the generalized reflection and transmission matrices. The line source is transformed into an infinite periodic array of linearly phased dipole in the spectral domain. The scattered fields including near fields and far-zone fields are exactly expressed by an infinite integral. The far-zone fields can be approached by a method of steepest descent without performing this integration. The radiation patterns of a line current source covered by an electromagnetic crystal embedded in a magnetized ferrite slab have been discussed in several different cases.
