Abstract :
The level crossing accidents have been a major portion of the railway accidents. Nowadays, several indices and equations such as Peabody Dimmick Formula, New Hampshire Index, National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) report 50 and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) accident prediction equations, are used to predict the occurrence of the level crossing accident. Those equations simply calculate the frequency of level crossing accident with the parameters, e.g., train traffic, road traffic, and numbers of lane and track, etc. But because the level crossing accidents are related to the many factors, the equations have to include much more parameters to analyze the safety of a level crossing, give us the countermeasures to reduce the effects of the accidents, and also be applied to all railway accidents including level crossing. For this requirement, safety analysis process has been newly proposed
