Finance Adviser: consultation system for financing information retrieval by multi-dimensional thesaurus

This paper describes the design and structure of Finance Adviser which is a knowledge-based consultation system for retrieving financial information using multi-dimensional thesaurus. This system advises clients on financing systems provided by government authorities. The main function of Finance Adviser is to introduce suitable financing systems which meet the requirements and constraints set by the clients. Finance Adviser has the description of several types of knowledge with respect to financing systems and terms used in consultation, as its knowledge base. This thesaurus consists of two types of terms: one type is used by the clients, most of them are usually ordinal civilians; and the other is technical terms used by the administrative specialists. These two types of terms are co-related so as to achieve a better man-machine interface. Finance Adviser infers the purpose of a client and suitable financing systems. Our experiments show that the system finds suitable financing systems when results are measured by both of recall and precision
