  • Abstract
Generative models for the error process in digital transmission channels are implemented deriving error gap lengths from chaotic equations by means of simple procedures. The results obtained by Costamagna and Schirru (see ibid., vol.1, p.577-581, 1994) from the Henon equations are completed, and continuous-time chaotic systems are introduced in order to provide a better adjustment of the renewal or non-renewal behavior of the error gap sequences. Simple procedures are introduced to allow independent control of the relevant statistical parameters of the generated error process. As an example, an UHF mobile radio channel is simulated, and the capability of the chaotic model to give adjustable non-renewal characteristics, yet exhibiting compliance to imposed statistical parameters, is demonstrated
