Abstract
Criteria for a good interleaver design for IDMA include low memory requirement, easy generation, low correlation among interleavers, and low overhead for synchronization between user and base station. A novel interleaver design based on linear congruences for IDMA systems is proposed in this paper. The design requires the storage of only a small number of parameters and the transmission of a small number of bits for synchronization. Users and base stations can derive the interleavers from the identification numbers for different users independently and simultaneously. A parallel permutation mechanism is proposed for reducing the generation time of interleavers. Simulation results show that our interleaver design has better performance than the pseudo random interleaver design for IDMA.
