Abstract :
Various aspects of motor control have been a popular subject for modeling, at least since the time of Leonardo da Vinci. Today, as the tools are developing for accomplishing meaningful models of motor control, the factors that determine the effectiveness of these models are probably more political than technical. Some new and older representation of muscle in motor control and experimental results will be used to illustrate problems of too much or too little modeling. Implications with respect to current legislative activity will be suggested.
