Abstract
Multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) systems have been in textbooks of system theory for a long time. However, the concept of MIMO systems was not linked with image coding until very recently. In this paper, the authors present research results in vector-based image coding and discuss how the concept of MIMO systems may be helpful in developing high performance image coding techniques
