Abstract
In view of the large amount of attention which has been devoted to the circle criterion over the years it is surprising how little effort seems to have been devoted to improving the basic conditions which it gives for stability. In this paper we discuss a variety of methods for predicting stability for finite dimensional simple time varying feedback loops which do not require a stronger hypothesis on the time varying gain and yet require less assumptions on the transfer function.
