Abstract :
A novel three-dimensional laser focus, with a horseshoe-shaped longitudinal intensity profile, was realized experimentally from a single laser beam by the incoherent coaxial combination of Laguerre-Gaussian and Gaussian modes generated from segmented optical elements.
