Abstract :
In this paper, a managed object (MO) model is proposed for the management of ATM layer networks and integration with its server (SONET) and client (service access) layer networks. The proposed management model is based on the application of emerging “network-view” draft standards from ITU, ETSI and the ATM Forum, to the technology specific areas of ATM and SONET. Our main focus is on the ATM layer-networks needed to support management of a network of TMN Q3 (CMIP) based ATM switches, such as Fujitsu FETEX-150 broadband switching systems, however we also apply the same modeling principles to the SONET and service access layers to illustrate how the network view concepts apply to integrated network management. Design goals for the model include a MIB (management information base) that is complimentary to the network element (NE) agent model, and can efficiently support user applications
