Abstract
Lebanon is one of the countries not gifted with fossil fuel in the Middle East so it has to import it in order to produce electricity even though the large increase of its price and the environmental impact of its burning. Electricité du Liban (EDL), the state owned company, cannot meet the power demand. Thus, the Lebanese customer has to subscribe with small producers of power (generators) in order to complement the energy provided by EDL. Because of the shortage of energy in the Lebanese public-utility, Lebanese end up paying two electricity bills. This feasibility case study aims to show that replacing fluorescent lamps with light emitting diodes lamps will be energy efficient and by that decrease the cost for energy production.
