Abstract
The geothermal water can be considered as a potential for an alternative energy source in Lebanon. This is based on the geological data of the existence of igneous rocks at depth in contact with groundwater reservoirs. There are several indicators of geothermal water in different geographic localities of Lebanon. This was evidenced in drilled wells or discharging springs inland and offshore in the littoral water. This research represents an inventory for assessing the geographic distribution of geothermal water in Lebanon, which exists mainly in four geographic domains. It aims, in a broad sense, to characterize these domains by considering the hydrogeologic mechanism for groundwater heating. A detailed assessment and investigation are still required for better implementation of such energy sources.
