Abstract :
This paper illustrates the feasibility and superiority of the efficiency measurement of logistics enterprises by DEA model. Under the case of CRS and VRS input oriented DEA models, we conduct an analysis on the efficiency measurement of 16 logistics public companies basing on the cross-sectional data of 2008 solved by the multi-stage DEA method. By use of DEAP Version 2.1 we can calculate CRS and VRS technical efficiency, scale efficiency, returns to scale for each of the 16 logistics public companies. These results can point out the reasons for the inefficient Decision Making Units (DMUs) and provide improving directions for the inefficient companies accordingly. Besides, a dummy DMU is added in DEA model to rank efficient DMUs for further evaluation of technology efficiently logistics companies, in order to solve the problem that DEA model exists multiple efficient DMUs. By comparing the efficiency of logistics companies, this study contributes to find their own weaknesses in order to take effective measures to improve their level of input and output so as to improve its logistics efficiency.
