Abstract :
Performance of error control schemes over block fading channels is considered. Tight random coding upper bounds as well as lower bounds for block codes are given. The maximum achievable diversity order and capacity outage issues are discussed. Modified union bounds for specific convolutional codes are given and code design is discussed
