Abstract :
Turbo-codes are parallel concatenated convolutional codes (PCCC) whose performance in the AWGN channel has been shown to be near the Shannon limit. In fact in simulations for long interleaver length (N=16384) BER of 10-3 at Eb/N0=-0.15 dB have been achieved. In this paper we present a new low rate superorthogonal turbo-code that can perform even better than the ordinary turbo-code at the expense of bandwidth expansion. Thus superorthogonal turbo-codes are suited mainly for, for example, CDMA applications
