Abstract :
This paper develops a mathematical model for describing the NMS activity during isometric contraction using real-life experimental data. It is assumed that the NMS consists of a collection of unknown number of motor units which are innervated in a random sequence, the innervating waves having the same direction of propagation with respect to the surface electrode. The nonlinear model evaluated for the NMS describes the functional relationship between the MUAPs and the corresponding EMG interference pattern.
