Abstract :
Emerging 3G and 2.5G mobile data networking standards provide the framework for improved handling of packet data in tomorrow´s wireless networks. The standards are limited in guiding the implementation of meaningful services that optimize the benefits of an always on, everywhere Internet experience. This presentation discusses the importance of combining the strength of traditional intelligent networking systems´ information elements with information available from Internet authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) domains. Problems of scaling new mobile data services to millions of users while maintaining a high growth of voice services are looked at. Problems associated with provisioning, and operations of mixed 2.5G and 3G networks are also discussed in the light of the proposed solution using the mobile data and IN interworking. Implications on service performance, flexibility and robustness are discussed. Case studies are presented that look at very specific examples that highlight the importance of converging these key information domains
