  • Abstract
Comparison of elevations from TanDEM-X DEM of the year 2011 with C- band Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) DEM acquired in February 2000 was carried out for the rugged terrain of Northwest Indian Himalaya. The aim was to evaluate the usage of the two DEMs for the study of glacier elevation change, volume loss and hence geodetic mass balance of in-accessible glaciers of Himalaya. Furthermore, the elevation change of a glacier of Northwest Himalaya at 100 m altitude interval was computed to study the change in the glacier thickness in the past 11 years of period between 2000 and 2011 in response to change in climate.
