Abstract :
This study presents the feasibility of sea waves monitoring using the P(Y) & C/A ReflectOmeter (PYCARO) instrument which employs a novel Global Navigation Satellite Sys tems Reflectometry (GNSS-R) correlation technique. To that end, an experiment over the wave channel surface of the civil engineering school of UPC (Barcelona, Spain) is performed using a signal generator to simulate the GPS satellites at different elevation angles. Results are compared to these derived from a wave probe sensor. The experimental evidence of sea waves determination opens a new scientific application of this remote sensing methodology.
