Abstract :
In this paper we study the soliton and multi-soliton solutions of the (2+ 1)-dimensional Zakharov equation(ZE) with a = b = -1. The first kind of soliton or soliton-like solutions of the ZE are obtained by Lou´s method. By carefully choosing the arbitrary functions in the resulting linear partial differential equation, explicit soliton solutions may be obtained. The second kind of solutions obtained are a vast kind of multi-soliton solutions. A special ansatz is proposed for getting these multi soliton solutions.
