Abstract
A digital two-sensor power inversion array (PIA) is proposed for extraction of a weak communication signal in the presence of a strong cochannel interferer. For this environment a closed form solution for the SINR of the PIA output is derived in terms of the signal powers, angles of arrival and sensor spacing. Using this formula the performance of the PIA is evaluated numerically. These results are verified with simulations of the PIA in an environment containing an FM signal in the presence of a strong TV interferer. In this environment, the PIA achieves comparable performance to a CMA beamformer, while requiring less computational expense and having no restrictions on signal modulus.
