Abstract :
There are several important issues that should be considered in designing an efficient MAC protocol for a dual-bus high-speed metropolitan area network, such as priority, bandwidth balancing time, fairness, message delay, and bandwidth wastage. Two efficient schemes are proposed for the dual-bus high-speed networks which consider these design issues. The first scheme is for the fairness of bandwidth allocation and the second scheme is for the fairness of access delay. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes are more efficient than other well-known schemes in every aspect. Most important, both schemes are quite simple and hence are very suitable to be implemented in a high-speed environment
