Abstract :
This paper describes the bifurcation phenomena in a nonlinear three-phase circuit. The circuit consists of delta-connected nonlinear inductors, capacitors, resistors and balanced voltage sources. A particular attention is paid to the breaking of symmetry with respect to the subharmonic oscillations of order 1/3. For some parameters the circuit works as if it were a single phase circuit. The subharmonic oscillations in the three-phase circuit and single phase circuit are compared from the point of view of bifurcation. A homotopy method is used to find the bifurcation points. Furthermore, real experimental results are compared with analytical ones
